VMware partnered with IBM and HPE to create a cutting-edge testbed. The study shows the performance of running a demanding workload against very large virtual machines of up to 120 vCPU running Oracle database software. The virtual machines ran in parallel on the testbed and displayed excellent performance and high efficiency. vSphere 6 was used in this test because it accommodates virtual machines of up to 128 vCPUs and 4TB of memory. The testbed also featured HPE Superdome X blades and IBM FlashSystem storage.
